Gloomy Day (with Playlist)

Sometimes you just wake up and you feel empty and then the weather makes it impossible for you to snap out of that feeling. Then I go searching for songs, songs that can keep me company till the time this feeling lasts. I embrace every feeling. Because I believe only when I feel lost can I be found, only if I feel sad can I understand happiness.

I created a playlist of songs and named it "Gloomy Rains." Each song takes me back to a movie or a moment when I first heard it. Here, I'm capturing those feelings into words—not for you, but for myself. Feel free to read along.

1. Aapki Yaad Aati Rahi – Gaman – Chhaya Ganguli

I was always under the impression that for a lady to sing you need the Nightingale’s voice. Sound as sweet as Lata ji. But some voices in Bollywood have time and again proved that they are here to reach your soul with your voice. I love this song especially for her tone and the sense of hopelessness in her voice.

2. Ab Mujhe Koi – Ishqiya – Rekha Bharadwaj

One of my favourite singers! I first got hooked to her voice with her song ‘Tere Ishq Mein’. She pulled the other me from within me and made me want to stand still in time listening to her. Her voice in almost any song is my favourite. Ofcourse Ishqiya was a brilliant film and always will be one of my top favourites.

3. Seene Mein Jalan – Gaman – Suresh Wadkar

If you ask me which celebrity, I would want to meet then he is one of them. I have been in awe of his voice since childhood. His voice in Sadma, Omkara. He has never got his due credit. When he sings, you know its him. What more does a singer need than to be unique!

4. Phir Le Aaya – Arijit Singh – Barfi

It’s nice to be challenged once in a while. All combination here was once ignored by me. Pritam- for obvious reasons! Ranbir, I wasn’t a fan of him at all when he started then he did Rockstar and then I spent money to see his films. Arijit, to me he was over-rated. He to me was the crying Enrique Iglesias of Indian Music Industry. But guess I should say even three negatives can make a positive.

5. Ka Karoon Sajni – Swami – Yesudas

Now, how many of you are even aware of this film! Girish Karnard and Shabana Azmi. A simple love story. A classic for me. Yesudas was not welcome to Bollywood and this is not news at all. But inspite of that, music lovers have playlists with his Hindi songs. Thanks to middle stream cinemas like these who took him in. Yesudas sir, respect.

There are more songs in this playlist right here. To feel what I feel right now, you can tune into the same on #spotify #spotifyplaylists
