That only manages to get inside

And turns you inside out or worse, upside down.

Switch off, switch off from the words that hurt you,

Hurt you enough to make not just your ears

but your heart bleed too.

Switch off, switch off from the people who keep tugging at you

Tugging not because they want to walk with you

But to pull you back and walk all over you.

Switch off, switch off from the touches you didn’t like

The talks that were demeaning

And that feeling of fright.

You are who you are.

Yes, you can work on a better version of you,

But work on it only if YOU really want to.

If what I just said, sounded like preaching to you,

Then just go back to the beginning

And simply, switch off, switch off!
