When dressed in a saree, my pallu is my cape.
When dolled up in salwar kameez, my dupatta is my cape.
When dressed in formals, my stole is my cape.
No matter what I drape, all jobs are done in time, never too late.
I am ‘looked up’ at, irrespective of my education.
But I'm also ‘looked down’ upon, for the same.
I am ‘looked up’ at because of the salary I take.
But also ‘looked down’ at because of the choices I make.
My good is my bad, and my bad is my worst.
But when someone’s hurt, there’s only me to nurse.
I am the ‘go-to’ person for almost everything,
Broken hearts, hunger pangs, just about anything.
When I speak up, I do it for everyone; be they tall, dark, big or small.
The choices I make, I never regret, I keep moving forward even without any help.
My family is my pride, and vice-a-versa, they are my true support too.
Hence, the cape I wear is sometimes invisible, too.
