I sawn I sawn I sawn Spider-Maaaan!
It was a day (Off wala Saturday) packed with house chores and some Toastmasters work but when my son said "Mumma I want to see Spider-Man" .... I was like "Will have to do it today because tomorrow again it's some other work... then Toastmasters (Sunday)
So, like a nice mother (I am seldom nice)I booked tickets in between my work so that I can have that on my must-do list and not forget.
We reached in time, took our usual tub of cheese popcorn and sat to watch in lay man's term a cartoon film of spider man.
Smart people call it an animation film! Okay but before I start... WHO IN THE WORLD TIES 'EQUALIZER 3' TRAILER TO A KIDS FILM???
Though I am going to watch that film in theatre, my kid had to shut his eyes throughout the trailer but unfortunately could not shut his ears as he was holding onto his dear tub of popcorn... making sure I don't take any. He doesn't share food, like Joey.... and like Me :-) Lack of closing ears made sure all the sound effects got to him and he knew... "Arrey ye picture toh mumma ka hai."
So the movie starts and I AM MESMERISED! The movie to me was a series of paintings moving from one to the other. Or typically like reading a comic and someone else was flipping the pages for you. All you had to do was sit back and enjoy the colours and characters come to life.
If only in real life we had so many earth's and relive with the same set of family members and friends.. maybe we could find out if we could make any other choices and life would turn out differently with the same set of people in your life. But their (self-proclaimed) CHIEF SPIDER-MAN, Miguel O'Hara says that if we change anything it breaks everything... a series of events that were never to happen, happens if we don't let each earth go on the way it did in another.
DUH! Then why have so many earths? How many times do you want to see the same things? Errrrr. Don't tell my sons I said this... they anyways call me noob and bummer and what-not!
Ofcourse to lure us Indians, they gave us our own Spider-man and NO he was not called Shakti-Man but.... 'Pavitr Prabhakar'. Cute, sweet, predictive accent and exactly like the others. They destroyed Mumbai too in the pretext of catching a villain and saving the 'that earth'!
Between Miles Morales (now my fav Spider-Man) and his mum Rio there is a beautiful scene. The dialogues were so apt for a mum like me that I reached out to my teenage son and was like, "that's me to you". Heartfelt and well thought set of words, a mum would say to her growing teen explaining 'tough love' and even just 'love' itself.
Now, this is a film for which I cannot quite wait for the next part to come.
So if you are creative and love a lot happening on screen and are ready for each Spider-man in multiples avatar then WATCH IT, with or without kids.
Psssstttt... do some homework and go... cause I bet, the only Spiderman you were aware of was and is Peter Parker... :-)
