So, another day and another travelogue entry.
This didn't actually happen during my travels, but I'm writing it while on the go.
The entire day, I've been dodging calls from a so-called bank where I have an account. Thank God for True Caller... but sometimes I think they know we can identify them, so they call from a number that True Caller hasn't flagged yet.
As I was walking to the metro station, she called again... and I picked up! She identified herself, and I immediately said, "If you're trying to sell me a credit card, don't bother, because I don't need it." She, being diligent and loyal to her service, asked, "May I know the reason why?"
What? DID SHE JUST ASK ME THAT? May I know the reason WHY???
And I answered in bullet points... literally:
Because I already have ONE credit card and I DON'T need another.
Because I am a responsible citizen and do not wish to feed on credit in my nation.
Because I am a responsible parent and wife and do not want to leave my kids or spouse in debt to pay my credit card bill if I die the next minute.
I know she was listening, but I'm also sure she must have had one of these expressions flashing in front of her:
"Arrey Mummy, TUM?"
"Uff, Pummy aunty, ab bus bhi karo na."
"Yaar... yeh month ka incentive bhi gaya."
She then asked me, "Would you be interested in learning about any other service?" And I was like, "No. For now, just stop this service of calling and asking me to take a credit card."
I don't get it. They definitely get our number from a list of people who already own credit cards, then they call us again, luring us to get another! How much of a habit should one develop for living on free credit? Plus, I'm not an airline that can file for bankruptcy, nor do I belong to a favorable community that can easily become "Pardes jaake, pardesiyaaaa."
God help her find someone unlike me who she can convince to take another credit card.
But if only they would stop calling me. Anyway, my stop is here. I'll continue later.
