Language: Malayalam (available with English subtitles)
Genre: Mind Boggling Thriller
Rising to fame from being a director of the film, Drishyam and more; director Jeethu Jospeh has outdone himself yet again with... Kooman – Owl.
At first, I googled Kooman as I had no clue what it meant. Yes, I am a Malayalee but I am a Bombay yes, Bombay not Mumbai born and brought up Malayalee.
The plot is intriguing. At first, you will be like where are you going with this and then you see layers and layers of human emotions going crazy and crazier. It is a loooooong film. Take some time out if you are planning to watch this. DO NOT WATCH IT IN PARTS. This needs to be consumed in one sitting; then sit aside and spend another half hour to understand the marvel that you just watched.
Asif Ali surprises time and again with the littlest of roles he does in does, to films that completely ride on his shoulders. This is what I love about Malayalam Cinema. There is place for everyone. Character artists, kids who come from no film background to the ones who come with some. We accommodate everyone and everyone shines together.
I think another thing all other Film industries envy about Malayalam cinema is that they get their casting BANG ON. Not one single person you can say was not supposed to be there in the role that they were chosen to do.
