The moment I see strong female leads, I'm immediately inclined to watch. But when there are two of them, it's a definite must-watch.
Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah are both brilliantly strong actors. In fact, I believe each of them has the ability to draw an audience on their own, whether on the big screen or in television.
Many people have likely seen Jalsa, and everyone has their own opinion. Here’s mine as well. To me, Jalsa is a movie that explores the lengths to which a parent will go to be with, avenge, and protect their child. The story begins with a bang and unfolds through flashbacks, revealing what happened and continuing with gripping intensity. It delves into the actions humans take when they've done something wrong.
It's often easy for us to judge others, but when we make mistakes, we prioritize explaining or defending ourselves with what we believe to be the right cause. Essentially, we humans are hypocritical.
I love many scenes in Jalsa where dialogues weren't crucial, but it was the expressions conveyed by Vidya and Shefali that spoke volumes. The angst, frustration, and desperation—let's say, all the negative emotions—were portrayed beautifully.
No matter how many principles and ethics one may have, when you falter, everyone around you is ready to scrutinize you layer by layer. One mistake can trigger a domino effect, revealing the price one must pay for others' silence. Forgiveness is weighty; owning up to one's mistakes and demonstrating integrity is even more significant.
An unspoken bond can form with people beyond your blood relations and social class.
I believe every individual holds power. Someone is always observing and learning from your actions. Therefore, the decision of which principles to live by is one that only you can make.
If you ask me, I would do what Vidya did if I were in her place, but I would also do what Shefali did if I were in her shoes, and likewise for the cop, the politician, and the intern.
The movie might not deeply affect you, but try to understand the complexity of the characters. Bollywood films with such well-defined characters are rare.
It's on my 'Thumbs Up' list, so if you trust my opinion, you might enjoy it too. 😇
